To run the McAfee uninstaller, here’s what to do:

  1. Open Finder and click Applications in the sidebar.
  2. Locate and double-click the McAfee uninstaller. It should be named after the McAfee edition on your Mac, for example, McAfee Total Protection Uninstaller.
  3. Enter your Mac administrator password and select OK.
  4. Select Continue and follow all the prompts on the screen to remove the McAfee installation from your Mac. You may be asked to enter your administrator password multiple times.
  5. Select Finish.

So, open a new Finder window and click on To go > go to folder from the menu bar. Then, visit the following directories one after the other:

  • /usr/local/
  • /Library/Application Support/
  • /Library/LaunchDaemons/
  • /Library/LaunchAgents/

Delete files and folders containing the name McAfee from the above directories. you can use the Search in the upper right corner of a Finder window to filter items.
