Your computer will report how much memory is in it in system properties. They cannot change how much it reports, because Windows does automatically. So the number it says is what is in there (or at least working).
If you want to check, most laptops have a panel on the bottom that has one screw, under which you can actually remove or add RAM or see what you have.
Use Belarc (freeware): HTTP://www.belarc.com/free_download.html Which will list what is inside your laptop, and tell you exactly how much and what type of RAM is there.
There are several ways to see how much ram is in the computer. However if it says 2GB, then its very unlikely its wrong.
By default that laptop does come with 4GB, so if it says 2GB, they could have scammed you. Very common among the smaller repair shops. (I used to work in one, and not even going to tell you some of the stuff we pulled)
If there is any type of corrosion on the RAM that means moisture got in there, and you should have other issues. Especially since RAM is typically in the middle of the underside of the laptop. I would be looking for the receipt for your laptop and get ready to file a complaint with the BBB.
